Happy New Year!

Well, it's a new year and although I am one of those people who has never been a fan of New Year's resolutions, I do think it is a perfect opportunity to slow down for a day or two and reflect. Think about your health and your life. Are you taking care of your health or not so much? If you have not been taking care of your health, the time to start is now. But this has nothing to do with January 1st -- if you are reading this in June, the time is still now. Once your health has fallen apart, it becomes a crisis situation and suddenly, you are putting out fires  instead of calming maintaining what is already there.

If you've always been healthy, you are very lucky and let me encourage you not to take your health for granted.
Just because you've always gotten away with certain choices, doesn't mean you will get away with them forever -- the older we get the less our body tends to tolerate.

If you do not currently feel that you are in good health -- that is, you feel over-tired, over-stressed, poor digestion, poor sleep, aches and pains etc. -- then I urge you not to wait any longer before taking care of your health. These symptoms almost never improve on their own and almost always worsen with time. And as time goes by, the amount of effort, time and funds that it will take to undo what's been done, grows larger.

Many people feel that they cannot take the time to take care of their health because:

1. They do not have the time -- you will never have the time, you need to take the time. No one will be giving it to you.

2. They are very busy with work, spouses, kids, social engagements etc. If your health fails, you won't be much good to anyone in any of these categories.

A great book that has a lot of women (some men as well) re-thinking the time they give to themselves is Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. You've probably heard of this book by now; every woman I know is talking about it and Oprah has had 2 full shows dedicated to speaking with the author. I couldn't put it down.
